Reuben Abati, a former aide to the president, has suggested that ex-presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso made a prudent choice out of apprehension regarding their recent decision to switch from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Naija News, Abati mentioned on ARISE Television’s ‘The Morning Show’ that the ambiguity surrounding the Supreme Court’s ruling related to the leadership conflict within the ADC led Peter Obi and Kwankwaso to foresee possible legal and structural difficulties within the organization.
The experienced journalist pointed out that the delegation of fundamental issues concerning the party to the Federal High Court has generated doubt about its future, which spurred both Peter Obi and Kwankwaso to affiliate themselves with another established political entity.
Abati further remarked that uncertainty lingers regarding the future political path for both individuals, including the likelihood of a shared candidacy and the characteristics of any new collaboration as forthcoming elections approach.
He stated, “It is evident that Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso made a cautious decision driven by their concerns since it is clear that the ADC they joined is unlikely to succeed, leading to potential complications.
“With the core issue referred to the Federal High Court, their future remains unclear, prompting them to swiftly transition to another political group.
“So, the essential question remains about the future steps for both candidates. Is a joint ticket on the horizon? What will the nature of their alliance be as we move toward elections?”
